Hyper-realistic paintings by Hilo Chen
Taiwanese-American artist Hilo Chen has been making the arts for a while now (he's 68-years-old) and is most famous for his hyper-realistic paintings of sun-baking ladies. Up close, from far away, you name it. Every line, every bit of hair, every piece of flesh and drip of water is meticulously painted.
Interestingly, over at painternyc.blogspot.com some internet warz began about whether Chen's paintings are porn-ish and misogynistic. Seems there was some trouble surrounding Chen's leaving out ladies' heads in some artworks. But aren't those images simply studies that focus in detail on a particular part of the body? An interesting discussion, if you ignore the name-calling.
